Ceramic and Porcelain Crowns
Our crowns are made with a beautiful translucency, and anatomy many times better than nature provides. We now also prescribe METAL-FREE anterior and posterior crowns for even greater translucency. Missing teeth can be replaced by crowning the teeth on each side of the missing area, and a crown attached to these to replace the missing tooth. Front teeth can be crowned to provide a more pleasing smile. We can totally reshape and change the color of your teeth to whiter shade.
Implants
Dr. Cox has practiced implantology for over 20 years with great success. The success of implantology has prompted many patients to seek implants instead of partials and dentures when possible. This procedure is an in-office procedure. Several trips are required, as placement of crowns on the implant takes at least two appointments. Placement of the implants is one appointment. Implants are considered by our patients to be a great alternative to a removable appliance such as partials.
Baby Teeth
White crowns are now available. These replace the stainless silver colored crowns of the past, and provide a much more pleasing smile for our future leaders.
White Fillings
White fillings are now available for all posterior and anterior cavity preparations. We have an assortment of shades available to match the natural tooth. This composite filling material is the newest available on the market today, and is considered to be superior to the amalgram fillings because of greater bonding and adherence to the dentin and enamel of the tooth. This decreases chances of leakage around the fillings, and the aesthetics of the white fillings clearly distinguishes this procedure from the old amalgram restorations.
Oral Surgery
Oral surgery is available as an in-office procedure for wisdom tooth extractions, general extractions that may be complicated due to crooked root structures of the teeth, removal of excess alveolar bone that cause difficulty when wearing partials or dentures, removal of excess frenums that cause spaces to form between front teeth, or the uncovering of highly impacted cuspids that need to be brought into alignment for braces. Gingival grafts or gingivectomy for excess tissue due to periodontal problems are also available.

These veneers can whiten, change the shape, fill in spaces, and give you a more pleasing smile than you could ever imagine. This new adhesive dentistry will absolutely give you an awesome smile.
Pedodontic Dentistry
Children have always been a large of our practice. We offer a visit to the dentist before a child's first appointment to help alleviate fears. We encourage parents to avoid any negative comments to the child. We want dentistry to be a positive experience. We encourage parents to bring children in the early morning hours, as children respond much better when they are not tired.
We also ask that parents not tell children about injections for anesthesia, as so many times, we can give injections without the child knowing what is happening. Sometimes the fear of what is going to happen is worse than what actually takes place. Describing to the child that we will tickle the teeth is a wonderful way to promote a positive attitude about the upcoming dental experience. We also use a slow speed bur or a prophy angle to run across the child's finger, enabling the child to become accustomed to the sounds and instruments we use. Children are always awarded a helium balloon, along with other possible prizes. Our policy is not to sedate our children. Numerous studies have been done that state the dangers of sedation. We allow parents to come into the room with the child to help alleviate any fears the child might have. We want our parent to see how we work with their child. Our hygiene program is a wonderful experience for our pediatric patients, and we suggest a first appointment to be with the hygienist of their choice.
Conservative, Non-Surgical Approach For Periodontal Treatments
Our goal is to have our patients reach their optimal oral heath. Every patient receives a Periodontontal screening and Recording at every hygiene appointment. This is a simple test specially designed for early detection of periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is the number one cause of tooth loss in adults. Early detection means early treatment for healthier gums. Our hygienists use a special rounded tip that is gently moved around your gum line. Each quadrant of the mouth is coded according to the PSR scoring system, featuring numerical scores 0-4. This information is recorded and kept in your file for reference at future appointments. If all your scores are 0-2, then additional examination is not required. Your treatment plan is determined according to the assessment of this examination. Our hygienist and dentists offer a comprehensive program to help our patients maintain their periodontal health through education for home care, antibiotic protocols, and treatment planning using a conservative, non-surgical approach when possible.
Orthodontics and the Treatment of Tempormandibular Joint Disfunction
Dr. Cox and his staff offer orthodontic care that is used for the very young to the more mature patient. CHILDREN as young as 7 years old can now be treated using orthopedic appliance that help the mandible and maxilla develop in the proper alignment. SKELETAL DISCREPANCIES between the maxilla and mandible, while the patient is still actively growing promotes wonderful results. Orthopedic problems such as a constricted maxillary arch, retrognathic mandible, or deep overbite is much easier to treat in the mixed dentition. When treatment is started early, 80 percent of the malocclusion can be treated with orthopedic appliances and the remaining 20 percent solved with the fixed braces using this two-phase treatment approach ensures that in excess of 95 percent of our mixed dentition cases (children 7-11) can be treated non-extraction and non-surgically.
Many of our MATURE ORTHODONTIC PATIENTS (you are never too old for braces) not only have suffered from misalignment of teeth, causing cosmetic concern and periodontal difficulties, but also TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINT disorders are a major concern. Orthopedic appliances are used prior to braces to temporomandibular joint in proper placement, but also promotes better facial and skeletal alignment. Patients sometimes have the added benefit of FEWER HEADACHES and facial pain.
